

Dr. Herbold offers two types of service:
- Writing consultation, especially for academics (faculty, graduate students, post-docs, researchers, and
undergraduates) who are working on books, articles, theses, research papers, and other writing projects.
- Teaching consultation for faculty and graduate students who want to improve their teaching.

Dr. Herbold has:
- Received M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California at Berkeley (Comparative
Literature) and a B.A. from Yale University (Classics).
- Taught literature and writing to UC Berkeley undergraduates for more than 20 years.
- Taught and mentored Graduate Student Instructors at UC Berkeley for seven years.
- Authored and published several scholarly articles in books and refereed journals (1996–2008).
- Worked as a professional writer and editor for many businesses and clients, including University of
California Press and Stanford University Press, for more than 20 years.
